Wild and Crazy Week!!

It has been a wild and crazy week. I don't feel like I have even sat down this past week, let alone been on top of things!

Trevor woke up yesterday with a red eyelid. I took him into the Doctor last night and found out he has an infection in his eye. Big surprise. What I was suprised about was that he had a double ear infection, red throat and swollen nasel passages. Um.. I didn't even take him in for that. He has not complained of not feeling well, but then again, he never does. But he hasn't had a fever or anything. So I feel bad he has probably not felt well and I have been sending to him to school. His asthma is acting up, and he was wheezing more than normal when she listened to his chest. So we are going back to nightly nebulizer treatments. At least it is christmas vacation and he is out of school.

Jordan had his preschool singing program a couple days ago. He was very shy about going up in front of everyone, but once he was up there and singing, he did awesome. He sang all the songs and did all the actions. I was very proud of him. Preschool has been a struggle with him lately, so I had no idea how it would go. I didn't get any video or pictures since both of our camera's had dead batteries. I was so not prepared apparently.

I also found out this week Josh is allergic to milk. He has had all sorts of problems with formula since he was born. We have been on every kind, every brand. Two months ago he had a bad diarhea thing that lasted 4 weeks so I took him in. The PA that saw him said she thought he had a milk problem or at least a lactose problem. So we went on Lactose Free then. When I took him into his 6 month appt the Pediatrician said that if he got really constipated again, to go back to regular formula. So last weekend, I bought some since he was having issues again. On sunday he rubbed his face alot, but I didn't think anything of it since he was tired that day. On monday morning I fed him his first bottle of the day and when I looked down he was rubbing his face again. I took the bottle out and low and behold he had hives everywhere. So I took the bottle away and waited an hour before trying agian. The hives came back again. I tried a third time when I got home (I was babysitting my neice) and he got hives again. So I called the Dr office and they told me that I was right.. he is allergic to milk. Since I was allergic and Trevor was too, it is not a suprise. So we put him on soy formula, he was so much better in 12 hours, and now his spit up is gone too. So now we get to do the full fledged soy stuff again. At least I have been through it before and know what I am doing. It just will be more difficult since he has two older brothers that will get stuff he can't have. Poor boy.

So between all the health issues, holiday plans and shopping this past week, it has been a wild and crazy ride. Thank goodness we are surviving it. I hope everyone is surviving and has a wonderful Holiday season.

Josh has his EI Evaluation

Josh has his Early Intervention (EI) evaluation today. It went very well. He was even tired and asleep when we got there, and still cooperated!

He did have some delays (big surprise) so we are going to start some physical therapy. He should only need it for a short time to help him 'catch up' to his age. They do take his corrected age of 5 months in consideration as well. So he is a month behind his corrected age, or 2 months behind his actual age. He was actually right on with 6 months as far as cognitive was concerned. We weren't worried about that, but given the history of Autism in our family it was a relief to see him doing so well.

When they do the eval, they test in all areas, not just what he is originally brought it for. So in the course of this eval we discovered a significant problem with eating and that they can help us! I have struggled with feeding issues his whole life, but was disappointed to find out we could have prevented alot of these. The NICU doctors should have referred us to EI when we left with his sucking and latching problems we had. They could have worked with him and solved the problems. Instead he has problems with eating solids too. So he definantly needs some Occupational Therapy for the feeding issues. In fact they were pretty bothered we have just taken the time and patience to feed him like we have, when they could have helped us!! Like we had a choice! So the OT called me after we got home with some stuff to do now until we can get started. I bought a different bottle tonight that she swears does wonders. So we'll give that a shot and see how it goes.

Now we just wait and see what all the therapy and excersizes do for him. That will start after the first of the year.

We also have a new IEP meeting with the special needs team next week to go over the testing Trevor just had done. He has to have all this major testing done every three years and so he just had that done, plus we are changing his qualification with Weber County. So I'll let you know how that meeting goes. I am hoping that we get all this done and over with to have a fun Christmas.

Josh is 6 months!

Well it's hard to believe that my 'baby' is 6 months now! We took him to the doctor today to get him checked out. He is now weighing in at 16 lb 7 oz, which puts him between the 25th and 50th for weight. He is 27 inches tall, which puts him in the 75th percentile. It is amazing how big he is getting!

As far as development is concerned, he is lagging behind quite a bit now. I am going to call Early Intervention tomorrow to get him in. The Ped thinks he needs some OT (occupational therapy) to get him caught up. He thinks it is just prematurity still, but we'll know more after an eval and a couple more months. Even though he was about 5 weeks early, he is following a pattern of a more premature baby, so we need to keep a close eye on him. His fine motor skills are the most severe, but he is lagging in all areas.... gross motor, social/emotional, communication, and such.

We are also going to keep him on the Lactose Free formula and see if we are going to end up with a milk/lactose problem. He is struggling a lot with the baby cereal so we are trying some different things to get him to take it. He has started some veggies now, and does OK with those. He just is taking so much longer to learn things than we are used to, and we forget to give him time.

But all in all, he is healthy at least, and finally we have his ingrown toenail problem solved. The poor kid had to catch a break somewhere, right?

The other kids are doing great too. We all have slight colds right now, but hopefully they won't get bad with all that we have going on with the holidays. I hate to have to have us miss stuff, so we hopefully will make it through without any Dr trips or anything.

I am going to see if I can get some pictures of the kids tomorrow and post them as well.

A Few little changes......

Well I knew my nursery days were numbered, so I wasn't surprised to get that phone call last saturday to meet with the bishopric. I was surprised to be put in primary though. I had talked to them about not doing that, since I am trying to make a break from Jordan at church. But at least I am not over his class. I am team-teaching the 5,6, 7 year olds. Their is only 5 kids in all three classes, Trevor being one of them, so they combine. I have decided after finding out that is where I am going, that I am going to take Trevor with me, instead of leaving him in with the younger class. We'll see how he does. Jordan is in for a rude awakening to find out I am no longer going to be with him. I am so excited to have something different to do.

As far as Thanksgiving goes, we had a good time. We had a dinner with Scott's side of the family the weekend before, so we were able to do both sides of the family this year. It was really nice to spend time with our families' and enjoy the holiday. We are now gearing up for Christmas. It will be very interesting this year. Trevor always gets very overwhelmed and is hard to settle him down. Jordan is just a whinier child, so he makes life hectic as well. And this year adding Josh to the mix could just make it seem chaotic. I am looking forward to it anyway though.

So I thought today I would see what updated pictures I could post of the kids. I don't have the greatest shots, but they will work. I just got some pictures from my dad, so I had a few to use.

Just an update on the kids....

Trevor is doing great in kindergarton. He is learning all sorts of new things and has been surprising us with how much he likes school. He has a very small class, just 9 kids, so he gets alot of one on one help. We have several goals we are working towards with him right now.

Jordan is doing well too. We finally started him in preschool this last week. It was hard finding one that was close and reasonable priced. He absolutely loves that he gets to go to school now too. Although I think I was more excited than him for it!

Josh is growing like a weed! I took him into the Dr last week and he was already up to 16 pounds! He is also 27 inches tall already. I think he may be our tallest child. We switched his formula again to a Lactose-Free one and for the first time since he has been born, I think we finally solved the problem with eating, tummyaches, ect. He is a mini Trevor and we can't tell the difference between thier baby pictures. He is one solid kid! He is a very happy baby and is 100% a daddy's boy. Scott finally got his wish. He may have a duck hunting buddy after all!

Scott and I are just busy with the family, keeping up with life and all that fun stuff. It's hard to believe we have a kindergartoner and a preschooler now. Time sure flies.

I just thought I would post pictures from Halloween since I never sent them out. Trevor was a cowboy, although you would never know it in these pictures. Jordan was Tigger, as you can tell. And Josh was a penguin.

The only pictures I have are with their cousins from both sides. The first pictures is with Scott's mom and Jarron and Aliyah, my neice and nephew. The other picture is with my side of the family, that includes Kyrie and Parker.

Halloween was fun, busy and came and went really fast.

Just getting started at blogging...

I have needed to find a way to keep everyone updated with our family. And my friend Alison, who I never get to talk to anymore, called and suggested a blog. I gotta say.. it is a great idea. I just wish I had thought of it before now.

So I am going to get going on this and keep it updated with pictures of the kids, and how we are doing. Keep checking back to see the latest!
