New things at our house

So this is what Scott and I have been up to today. I have been debating and thinking and racking my brain to find ways to give Josh the Sensory Input he needs. A couple nights ago as I am thinking about stuff (instead of sleeping of course!), I thought this idea up.

For those of you who don't know, our basement is not finished. It is pretty big, around 1400 square feet or so. One side is blocked off for storage, but the main part has become a modge-podge of playroom, tv area, exersize area, food storage.. ect. So I decided that we needed to significantly downsize the toys... most of them being choking hazards for little Josh. So while Trevor and Jordan were at school, we went through the toys and got rid of about 90% of them. We re-arranged down there and hung up a swing for Josh. We plan to get a therapy swing for him, but until then this one will do.

So here it is. Just remember it is cement walls and floor. There is no framing or anything, so it's not pretty.

Here is the 'tv area' with chairs. It is really nice to have since we have cable running to the TV so the kids can watch Disney or something down there.

Here is the 'playroom/therapy' part. I say that because the mats and different rugs, ect is something that Josh has a hard time with walking on, so it does double duty. And of course his swing is there too.
And here is Josh in his swing. You can't tell, but he absolutely LOVED the swing. We got more smiles and laughing out of him than we have ever heard. It is too hard to get pictures of him smiling.
He really is Happy as a Clam, believe me! We are so happy that we got this HUGE project done today.. it took most of the day, but it is going to pay off big. Anything I can do to get Josh some sensory input is great!

WOW! What a project! Good for you guys!
By 'get rid" of the toys, did you toss them or DI or what? I keep thinking one of these nights I need to go thru some of our toys. If Sienna would go to bed befoer I'm exhausted maybe it could happen.... ;)

I think I tell you that you are an awesome mom everytime...but it's true. So much love goes into your thoughts of how to help your children. You're amazing! Great job on the basement. It looks great, cement walls and all. Better than no basement. Right?!
